How to create your gorgeous version of a modern bohemian interior
Today on the blog I have a home envy post on Amanda Barnes Interior designer based in California, maybe it’s because the weather here in Perth is finally starting to warm up but I feel a bohemian interior style lends very well to our climate and our west coast style. In this post is a house tour of Amanda’s California bungalow and I’ll discuss how you can bring elements of a bohemian interior into your home. While I’m not an advocate per se for specific design trends, the trick is to allow certain pieces to imply a style but always sticking to a modern style as your base.

The best way to start achieving a bohemian look and feel is to decide on a colour palette and add textures on top of textures. Creams and off-whites as the base foundation palette (not a bright stark white), then add some colour via paintings/ artwork, tribal print authentic cushions & rug. Add some natural timber elements to ground the space and make it feel warm but casual and inviting. In the above image, you can see how Amanda has quite a neutral base colour palette and using the rug & cushion’s to bring in some navy blue tones. The cactus plant & artwork with a touch of native foliage bring in some natural green tones which complement the timber stool and tieing in all the natural timber elements together.

This room is probably more of the modern base I was discussing at the start, it’s classic with touches of boho in cushions, the throw on the lounge. I also love the mountain of books on the coffee table (something that will be on my wishlist as soon as my young boys textas are only for scrap paper 😉

Such a calming Bedroom space, still sticking to neutral timber elements. There is plenty of natural light with a mix of beautiful full-length windows and half height windows allowing symmetry either side of the bed. Really the key pieces that suggest a boho vibe are the beautiful statement piece chandelier and the antique faded floor rug & cushions.
